What is NXST?

Interactive 3-D Mapping Tools for First Responders

Founded in Flint, Michigan, NXST (Next-Gen Emergency Surveillance Technology) was created to close the gap between first response and real-time building awareness. We build intuitive safety tools that help officers, dispatchers, and school administrators act faster, smarter, and with greater confidence during high-stress emergencies.

Our core technologies—Shield and Shield Plus—deliver highly accurate 3D building maps embedded with tactical markers, blind spot alerts, and, in Shield Plus, live CCTV feeds directly tied to the building layout. These tools are designed to enhance—not replace—existing emergency protocols, giving responders a clearer view of where to go, what to expect, and how to neutralize threats safely.

As a Michigan-based firm with national ambitions, NXST is committed to rethinking what preparedness looks like in today’s world. With proven results in live simulations and growing interest from schools, law enforcement, and safety agencies, we’re proud to help usher in a new era of precision, protection, and elevated response.

Both tools can be accessed by your county’s 911 dispatch system, giving first responders fast, secure access when seconds matter most.

CORE SHIELD TECHNOLOGY

NXST’s Core Shield technology is a digital mapping system that allows first responders to virtually walk through a school or facility before ever stepping inside. Using detailed 3D models created from real scans, officers can see multiple floors, hallways, entry points, and blind spots directly from their phone, tablet, or patrol car. The platform includes floating visual markers called “Vpins” that highlight key information like exit windows, camera dead zones, and safe zones. Shield gives law enforcement, dispatch, and school leaders a shared understanding of the building—so when a real emergency happens, they’re not guessing, they’re acting with confidence.

Each Shield deployment is securely linked to a county’s 911 dispatch center, giving authorized users controlled access to the system during drills, emergencies, and pre-incident planning.

SHIELD PLUS TECHNOLOGY

NXST Shield Plus builds on the foundation of Shield by adding live camera feeds directly into the 3D map of the building. This means first responders don’t just see the layout—they can view real-time activity inside hallways, classrooms, and entry points while en route or on scene. Shield Plus connects to existing CCTV infrastructure and allows dispatchers or command staff to grant and manage camera access securely during an active incident. With both the map and live visuals in one interface, responders can confirm the assailant’s location, monitor evacuations, and adapt to changing threats faster than ever before.

Like Shield, Shield Plus can be accessed by your county’s 911 dispatch system and is built to enhance—not replace—existing response protocols.

We don’t just design from theory—we simulate, we test, and we improve with feedback from those who walk into danger first. NXST was built with police trainers, special operations veterans, and campus safety leads.

  • "We cut our response time by 70%. No one was lost. Man, it wasn't even close."
